A common problem for more people than you may think, effecting both men and women alike. We take a closer look at Hyperhidrosis.

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is abnormally excessive sweating that’s not necessarily related to heat or exercise. Most people sweat due to exercise or being exposed to heat. Those who experience hyperhidrosis may find they are sweating at random times and without cause. In some cases it can soak through to their clothes or cause wet hands and can potentially worsen in the summer months.

What can we do to help?

In short… Botulinum Toxin (Botox)! When we use Botox to help keep wrinkle and fine lines at bay – it helps relaxes the muscles allowing less movement when the facial muscles contract, keeping us looking smooth and youthful. 😊

However, when Botox is used for hyperhidrosis in the armpit area it actually blocks the nerve signals to your sweat glands. This trains your body to decrease the amount of sweating over a period of time.

The treatment itself?

Hyperhidrosis appointments normally takes 30 minutes to perform, and last between 4-6 months as the nerves will regenerate so maintenance is required. There are minimal side effects to the treatment. Patients may experience some discomfort during the procedure and possibly redness and bruising after. This will disappear within 24-48 hour. Little rest or recovery time is required.

Results can be seen within 2-4 days with the full effect taking 2 weeks.
